Sunari Hikura (East Gate) Empty
PostSubject: Sunari Hikura (East Gate)   Sunari Hikura (East Gate) I_icon_minitimeFri Dec 03, 2010 3:40 am

Name: Sunari Hikura
Age: 164
Gender: Female
Height: 5ft 8in
Weight: 130lbs

Appearance:
Spoiler:

Sunari is a girl who's built her body more on movement than brute strength, body fit, but only enough for some definition. Often aware of how her body moves, she can walk with the assassin's step without a thought – which just means she can indulge in spooking people with a surprising “Boo!” in her mind. To further accent this ability to move she will edit her uniform in the heat of a battle just to gain a spectrum of motion if the outfit dares to inhibit it, though usually she repairs it to avoid any yelling. But in down time she easily reverts to more loose clothes intermixed with flexible fabrics underneath to keep both modest, but cool in warm temperatures. Her dream is to be able to design a different uniform though that she can do less to edit in times of need, but since the need hasn't arisen she has yet to gain the okay.

Between her two backgrounds her skin runs into a cinnamon brown, sometimes looking darker thanks to her snow white hair. Both colors aid each other in causing her jade green eyes to run a variety of color spectrums, in darker lighting becoming almost forest green and in bright sunlight bringing the color into a beautiful, vibrant, grass green. She keeps her hair at two separate lengths, with a halo barely kissing her shoulders to fram her head, and a long length in back to reach the top of her tailbone with layering back up. Facially she's quite expressive to the point even if she's holding it in the laughter can be viewed through her eyes. Her voice is fully capable of speaking softly and jumping to excited levels just as easily as her moods cross her face.

Race: African/Native American
Soul race: Shinigami
Hair color: Snow white
Eye color: Jade green
Body type: Lithe and flexible
Country of origin: Delarus

Personality:
There's a sort of Jekyll and Hyde to Sunari. At the top of her list, Sunari loves having a good time and relaxing. One of her favorite places to be is in the hot springs just relaxing – near napping though people often prevent her from drowning. With her a smile is often present if not ready and waiting for disapproving authority to walk by and leave the room, and sometimes gets excited before she realizes she's getting hyped up. To her, spending life happy is a great goal since spending a lot of it depressed feels wasteful. Thus when a friend or acquaintance is down in the dumps she jumps at the chance to bring their mood up in anyway possible, from listening to offering advice, to even trying to distract them for a bit so they can buck up and look at the problem with a new attitude.

To authority figures she can come across as “flippant” and doesn't mind this since she can't understand why they insist on being serious all the time outside of the necessary times, and they can't seem to grasp why she can smile through so much. Regardless she doesn't bother explaining her happy-go-lucky philosophy to those she figures won't comprehend it anyways. In her mind she figures trying to convert a grumpy person just gives them the right to try to persuade her to the frowning side. This attitude does leave her in a state often where others can't discern if she's being serious or not, which can lead to other problems in the long run.

This leads to a bit of contradiction where Sunari also tends to hide herself from others. Where she's willing to help others, she can be a difficult one to help emotionally. There are times where she has yet to figure out she is sad due to being so good at distracting others she can distract herself and tends to forget the problem. Talking it out with another strikes her as merely burdening them unreasonably since others have enough problems without her adding to them. Trivial information about herself is free game by comparison since knowing she likes pasta isn't troublesome whatsoever.

Rare as it may be, Sunari does have her more serious moments and times of serenity compared to her usual rambunctiousness. Despite holding abilities geared towards emotion and art, she makes greater attempts to buckle down her personality then rather than unleash accidental chaos. This leads further to a greater concentration towards her opponent or multiple ones since she veers towards keeping a cool head. Could be said at times that her eyes appear 'dead' during these times, but the more alive they become the more of a warning it is until such becomes too late. Her goal becomes more set and zoomed in the more emotional she becomes in a fight, but she fights harder during this time as well as fluidly as opposed to smart.

background:

Born to a loving couple inside the United States in Chicago, Sunari enjoyed what little of her life she spent there. They lived in a lovely neighborhood, not quite rich but far from poor, and with a park for her to enjoy around the corner. The good times lasted enough to fill a hand, Sunari's only memory involving a large and shadowy figure descending upon her and her father as they walked to the park. Cackling filled the air as the beast found prey however, father unable to react quick enough for the sake of him and his daughter as death cooled them all too fast. Too slow though, the beast hardly had time to attempt devouring them before blades slashed through the body as though it were tissue paper, a pair of people dressed oddly in her eyes manifesting before them. To ask the child what happened then, she believed they smacked her father in the head with their sword as he disappeared before doing the same unto her.

An unfortunate case, and despite being sent back nearly at the same time, the two never saw each other again. Sunari theorizes that simultaneously a lot of other souls were sent to Soul Society about that time and basically cut between her and her father “in line.” Thus they ended up in two different places, though she quickly obtained a new parent. The district she landed in was far from upscale, yet again not close to the worst ones either as she landed about the middle. Her newly gained mother was a weird sort, often dressing so that her robes fell off her shoulders to reveal her lovely, ivory skin and yet wore beautiful kimonos and robes – however loosely. Mostly her services were paid as a date, however not hard to surmise she sold her body as well as more of a high end hooker in times, claiming she deserved a little lovin' too. Not that Sunari understood this, merely thinking people paid for her company for the sake of talking and such, so the woman let her keep this more pure-minded thinking.

Despite the lewd life of her guardian Sunari rather enjoyed the woman, learning quite a few things that didn't relate to the woman's trade in this new life from her. Truly the woman knew how to defend herself, and if anything she chose the customers rather than the other way as she wasn't afraid to turn down an offer in the slightest. Those pushy soon found themselves flat on their asses outside the door with a glare aimed down her nose cold enough to ice over boiling water. And one should pity those who believed Sunari in-training for the woman's profession for they never found a good time again. On occasion the woman brought Sunari along if all her job involved was acting as a date or perhaps company of the societal sort since invites to the upper families came along now and then. To this day in fact Sunari's never really understood the woman's position in Soul Society nor her complete profession.

An ex-captain of sorts, and an ex-family member of one of the royal families, she'd become claustrophobic over the society and extracted herself from it, as well as her duties as a shinigami. Keeping some old friends the woman let Sunari play with the royal families' children from time-to-time, though careful to keep her from their reach too regardless how many times her friends promised not to “steal her treasure.” When the time came the woman even wept heavily when Sunari left for the Academy, though the girl was hardly embarrassed over the mostly dramatic act, and partially true sadness.

During her time in the academy Sunari didn't stand out for her prowess or excelling capabilities – good in things but plenty of people better than her. Instead she made plenty of friends and acquaintances through her fun-loving personality and general ability to rise above any depression hunting Hollows might forge. At times her teachers believed her to be a bit obnoxious and not take the fights seriously, even when she accomplished her task – to which she apologized for later often. The time in the academy has always been her favorite, second only to time spent with her afterlife mother before and after the academy. Overall when she graduated, she placed around the top of the middle, and fell into the East Gate squad.

Given general work at first, Sunari often entertained any partners in grunt work with her antics and general silly attitude. Rather than begrudge the work she'd rather have fun anyhow, and a good attitude found her rising up instead of staying down with the faceless grunts who often die without a tear shed to their name. Poor schmucks. Honing her skills also happened to help a little, Sunari not one to let herself fall into laziness either despite her happy-go-lucky attitude. Plus her mother would've kicked her butt for doing so severely, Sunari by now figuring out the woman's past a little, and after all the lessons too in self-defense.

All good things come to an end eventually, and Sunari's lucky and happy streak found a bitter end at the hand of what was supposed to be a simple reconnaissance mission. Grouped with three other shinigami, one from her group and two from the North sector, their task involved surveillance of an area due to an anomaly in Hollow activity there. At times Hollow activity rose drastically only for people to arrive on scene and see nothing, so they stationed the four there to watch. If something came up they'd deal with it, and if quickly discovered they couldn't handle it then another group stood at the ready to race to join the throes of combat and save their comrades. All through the night nothing happened, no sensors sparking and no visible signs arriving. At least they believed nothing to have happened.

Tired of waiting, Sunari checked the time and frowned because the pocket watch tucked in her robes decreed it well into morning and yet the overhead sky told a different story. Midnight surrounded them while the clock from her mother decreed they should've seen sunlight some time ago and the group fell into immediate alert mode. All hell broke loose the moment someone tried to radio for help to the awaiting squad.

Before their eyes the man lay in two pieces within the blink of an eye, face showing surprise as his arm and hand continued holding the position so the Hell butterfly once standing on his hand could sit there. The butterfly itself lay in multiple pieces on the ground, wings shreded in a diced manner and looking like a puzzle waiting to be pieced together on the ground. By the time they realized what happened another person lay choking on their blood, pinned to the wall by the blade of a mysterious and masked person. The body came off as human, form lithe and delicate, yet the figure proceeded to shred the pinned person with far too much ease with hands and blades alike. Chaotically graceful and gruesome at the same time as it left Sunari and her original partner alive. “Juiced” would've described what happened to the two Northerner's quite well, only bits of them truly surviving.

Sunari and her companion readied their blades, katana suddenly faced without an opponent until something wet exploded over Sunari's right side. Wide eyes turned to stare upon her friend, middle missing as a scratchy voice that sounded like it came through a speaker cackled and likened the person to a doughnut. Vicious joy dripped from every word, Sunari realizing the disturbingly beautiful figure to be the one who possessed the wrong voice, ugliness showing through somewhere other than from actions finally. The shielded face then twisted on the neck to stare at her, body moving so the neck need not crane so much as they considered Sunari. She could almost imagine the indecision of the person standing before her as they stared without moving, her body frozen and unable to shift a beat. Then that horrible voice spoke again, this time directed at her.

Vision swam as they almost recorded the scene before her eyes, the rewind too sudden she nearly didn't catch it until she realized they'd returned to when the Northerner was about to call for back up. Like a storyteller that crackling voice dictated her actions as the katana suddenly slashed through the man against her will and before the others could notice. She pivoted, driving it into the other man and shoving him against the wall. All-too gleefully her body kept slashing at him, moving faster than Sunari believed she could as her friend watched in growing horror. Crying on the inside she turned towards her friend, already knowing that she couldn't be spared while the voice continued from the imaginary page they read. They left her with a final sentences to the story, promising a sequel when given the chance: “Thus their lives ended, and forever as the will of the god did she believe it her doing. Though her mind told the truth, her heart always spoke first to decree 'I did it! It was me!' to those who asked. And so the shadow shifted over the guilty little girl as the god watched and awaited their next chance. The end...until we meet again.”

Left dazed and propped against the bloody wall, Sunari's eyes watched as the backup squad finally arrived, albeit over an hour late. Unable to respond they cleaned up while getting her back to Soul Society to await recovery and receive a report on what occurred. After a week of recovery, when she could finally bring herself to utter words, Sunari pleaded and pleaded for them not to force the words from her. Filled with the knowledge, she couldn't tell them her words would be lies outright, and knew she'd never speak the truth every time she thought about trying. Her heart truly believed she committed the crime even as her memory recalled a different story. Eventually they could no longer request it, though she suffered punishment for this refusal in the form of a complete demotion back to her grunt work.

This time around she continued her cheery ways, though those who knew her before noticed the change and lack of truth behind it. Sometimes she dredged the attitude back up, and other times the smile lay glued in place rather than held. This inner death lasted only until she returned to her mother, who managed to knock some of the life back into the girl – neighbors heard loud noises and think an actual beating might've been part of the process. Either way she returned with less false feelings and capable of truly smiling more and more as she again took up training that felt pointless only a short while ago. Friends noticed she'd have long bouts of disappearing, roaming away from the walls during free time to travel outside the Seireitei for her practice sessions. Sunari wanted more than anything to hear the voice of her spirit as those the strange person killed and herself all lacked that capability. And beyond that she wanted to start obtaining the powers inside to prevent a repeat as the person threatened to arrive again another day.

A year passed before finally the sullen spirit spoke, mostly due to her shouting at it without thinking the being actually heard her. The weird, wolf-like creature then yanked her into the depths of his realm, telling her if she truly wanted his power then to find him in this ever shifting world of platforms and shadows. Because if she couldn't reach the middle platform then he had no use for an owner who couldn't protect themselves nor accomplish things under their power before using another's power. Plenty of times Sunari yelled that he was cheating, but always she grinned and muttered to herself “but I'll beat you anyways” soon after without realizing he could hear these claims. Truly he meant to scoff even if it caused a mirrored grin on his face until the foolish girl did reach his middle platform. Shadow beasts attacked her along the way, and often the paths shifted while she walked along them or before reaching them. But she still made it.

Nothing left in Kumori's mind but to offer his services then, since she'd been so hellbent on it and beaten his challenge. Soon followed by many lessons to play the harp so she could actually make use of his ability without it sounding like complete crap – regardless if that'd be one way to defeat an opponent. Many times during the practice he'd liken her to someone else, using this other person as a reason why Sunari couldn't just wield him with awful notes lest she insult this other previous person, who Sunari theorized to be the figure in the mirror. Whenever she inquired he'd always go silent before pushing her harder with the lessons, and she recognized a distraction ploy when she saw one. After about five months of practicing he finally deemed her worthy of wielding shikai since she could now play the harp, and quite well at that – with demanded practice sessions. The original sword form changed then, becoming daggers she could better wield thanks to her inner wish of a lighter and speedier weapon she could wield more freely. To her the sword always came off as too bulky, so she delighted in the lighter pair that'd combine into a single weapon.

Between rebuilding her honor as a shinigami, increasing her strength, and proving herself through hard work without any complaints – yet again – Sunari found herself rising through the ranks again so that menial chores became a thing of the past...yet again. Her desires to fight in groups stayed dwindled to barely anything with that ever prevalent memory in mind, something she decided a curse by the same being who forced her under this permanent illusion of sorts. At most she accepts the assignments with partners, leaning more towards solo sessions so she doesn't endanger people. Always suspicious, she figures the next time she ventures in a group the person will find her again and force a repeat, Sunari cautious and awaiting the day she may earn a higher power until seeking this foe.
